Georgia
The queen who ruled in her own right from 1184 to 1213, at the Golden Age's height.
Tamar ruled Georgia from 1184 to 1213 and died on 18 January 1213. The retrieved Civ6 pages name the civilization and leave her pack unconfirmed.
Origins and formation
Tamar the Great reigned as queen of Georgia from 1184 to 1213 and presided over the apex of the Georgian Golden Age. She was a Bagrationi. Medieval Georgian sources stress that she was the first woman to rule Georgia in her own right by giving her the title mepe, king. She was proclaimed heir and co-ruler before that sole reign. The lead used here does not narrate the earlier Bagrationi kings. The golden age is longer than her years. Her reign is the height the biography names.1
Defining periods
The biography places her birth about 1160 or about 1166 and her death on 18 January 1213. The two birth years are both in the lead. This essay does not pick one. The death date is single. 1184 is the start of her rule as queen. 1213 is the end. Those brackets are one reign. They are not the whole medieval kingdom, and they are not a modern national state. No Civilization VII essay covers this kingdom, so none is linked.1
Leaders
The Chinese update notes use the ordinary Chinese name twice. Once it sits inside a unique unit listed with the Japanese samurai and the Norwegian berserker as a replacement for the man-at-arms. Once it heads a balance block about faith after a war declared to protect a city-state. They do not name Tamar. The brackets on that block name both Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm as rulesets for the change. They are not a sentence that says which pack adds the civilization, so her pack stays unconfirmed. The Chinese form of her personal name in this essay is the standard reading. No Leader Pass page retrieved here adds a second Georgian leader.2 3 4
The title mepe is a medieval choice of words. A game leader slot is a portrait and an ability. The title explains why sources call a queen a king. It does not describe a unique unit.1
Legacy and interpretation
Tamar’s legacy in this lead is the apex of a golden age and a reign in her own right. The kingdom’s earlier and later centuries stay outside the dates above. A civilization entry that uses only her face is a selection. It should not be read as the founding of the Bagrationi house or as the end of Georgia.1
A closer look
The update notes’ Georgia lines change a faith reward after that city-state war. This essay does not copy the amounts. The same notes name a unit and still do not name the queen. A changed yield is not the coronation of 1184 and not the title mepe.2
In Civilization VI
The pack stays unconfirmed. Keep the uncertain birth, 1184, and 18 January 1213 apart, and do not treat the standard reading of her name as a quotation from the 2K pages used here.1 2
