Indonesia
A modern archipelago name, and Gitarja, Majapahit's third monarch from 1328 to 1350.
Gitarja reigned in Majapahit from 1328 to 1350. The hub places Indonesia with the Khmer in a scenario pack. Her Chinese name is a standard reading.
Origins and formation
Majapahit, also called Wilwatikta, was a Javanese Hindu-Buddhist thalassocratic empire based on Java, in what is now Indonesia. At its greatest extent, after military expansion, the empire and its tributary states covered almost the entire Nusantara archipelago, spanning Asia and Oceania. The game’s civilization name is the modern country. The queen in this essay is a 14th-century monarch of that older empire. She is not a founder of the republic.2
Defining periods
Tribhuwana Wijayatunggadewi, regnal name Tribhuwannottunggadewi Jayawishnuwardhani, also called Dyah Gitarja or Gitarja, was a Javanese queen regnant and the third Majapahit monarch. She reigned from 1328 to 1350 and held the title Bhre Kahuripan, Duchess of Kahuripan. With her prime minister Gajah Mada she pursued a massive expansion. Tradition calls her a woman of extraordinary valour, wisdom, and intelligence. A Geneng II inscription gives her personal name as Dyah Tya. She was the first daughter of Kertarajasa Jayawardhana, the founder. The lead breaks off there. This essay does not invent the missing childhood. The published Civilization VII Majapahit essay is this empire. The published Khmer essay is another capital, not a previous dynasty.1 2
Leaders
The English and Chinese hubs list a Khmer and Indonesia Civilization and Scenario Pack. The Chinese update notes use a different word for “scenario” in that pack’s name, beside a Khmer elephant. This essay records both words and does not treat them as two products. Neither page prints Gitarja. Her Chinese name in this essay is the standard reading. Her pack is the scenario pack, because the hub assigns the civilization there and the retrieved pages do not add a second Indonesian leader.3 4 5
Legacy and interpretation
Majapahit’s legacy in the lead is a Javanese sea empire whose tributaries covered much of Nusantara. Gitarja’s legacy is the reign of 1328 to 1350 and an expansion carried with Gajah Mada. The modern name Indonesia is a later state. Putting her face on that name joins a 14th-century empress to a republic the leads do not describe. The Civ7 essay stays with Majapahit.1 2
A closer look
The update’s line about this pack changes an elephant’s strength. It is a balance number, and it is attached to the Khmer unit. This essay does not copy it. A changed elephant is not the reign of 1328.5
In Civilization VI
The civilization is the scenario pack named on the hub, shared with the Khmer. Gitarja’s Chinese name is a standard reading. The published Majapahit essay is the counterpart. Keep the Javanese empire, the reign of 1328 to 1350, and the modern country apart. The third monarch is not the founder named in the biography, and the modern archipelago name is not the 14th-century court. Gajah Mada is the minister in that lead, not a second game leader on the pages retrieved here.1 2 3
