Vietnam
A 3rd-century resistance, and Bà Triệu, who died in 248.
Bà Triệu died in 248 after resisting Eastern Wu. The Vietnam pack names her. The published Dai Viet essay is a later kingdom.
Origins and formation
Bà Triệu, also called Triệu Ẩu, died in 248. She was a warrior in 3rd-century Vietnam who, for a time, resisted the Chinese Eastern Wu dynasty. She is also called Triệu Thị Trinh, although her actual given name is unknown. Modern national history often places her rising among later chapters of independence. That later frame is not the year 248. The published Civilization VII Dai Viet essay is a kingdom whose dated Trần years begin in 1225. It is not this rising, and the published Trung Trac essay is a different person.1
Defining periods
The biography used here gives the death year and the opponent, Eastern Wu, and then turns to her later reputation. It does not give a birth year. This essay does not invent one. The pack that adds her also adds Kublai Khan as an alternate leader of China or Mongolia, and it says that playing him as Mongolia requires Rise and Fall. Kublai died in 1294. He is not her contemporary. The same page can hold a 3rd-century warrior and a 13th-century khan because they are two leaders in one sales bundle, not one reign.1 2
Leaders
The Vietnam and Kublai Khan Pack introduces Bà Triệu as the leader of Vietnam. The Chinese page uses the ordinary names for her and for the civilization. The update notes head a line with that ordinary name and tag the pack. They do not add a second Vietnamese leader. This essay does not copy combat bonuses for rainforest tiles. A movement bonus is not the year 248.2 3 4
Legacy and interpretation
Her legacy in the lead is a resistance that later readers fold into a long national story. The sources that date her stop at 248 and at Eastern Wu. Dai Viet, the Trần campaigns, and the rename of 1804 belong to the Civ7 essay. Trung Trac is the other published revolt, earlier than 248 and not this name. Keeping those people apart is the point of the two links.1
A closer look
The pack page describes districts on rainforest, marsh, and woods, and an elephant unit. Those are design sentences. This essay does not copy the yields. An elephant is not Eastern Wu.2
In Civilization VI
The civilization is New Frontier Pass. Bà Triệu is the leader the pack names. Kublai in the same pack is the alternate already described on the Mongolia page. The published Dai Viet essay is the later kingdom. Keep 248 and the 13th century apart. Her given name is unknown, and Triệu Thị Trinh is a later label, not a second woman. Eastern Wu is the dynasty she resisted. Kublai’s death in 1294 and the Trần years that begin in 1225 belong to other published pages. The sales bundle can print both leaders. The dates cannot make them one court.1 2
