Hungary
A kingdom from about 1000 to 1946, and Matthias I, king from 1458 to 1490.
Matthias was king of Hungary from 1458 to 1490 and died on 6 April 1490. The retrieved pages do not name Hungary. The pack stays unconfirmed.
Origins and formation
The Kingdom of Hungary was a monarchy in Central Europe from 1000 to 1946, nearly a millennium. It continued the Grand Principality when Stephen I was crowned at Esztergom around 1000. The Árpád dynasty led it for 300 years. By the 12th century it was a European power. In the 16th century Ottoman occupation of the center and south partitioned the country. Matthias’s reign is inside the undivided kingdom, not that later partition. No Civilization VII essay covers this kingdom, so none is linked.2
Defining periods
Matthias Corvinus, Matthias I, lived from 23 February 1443 to 6 April 1490. He was king of Hungary and Croatia from 1458 to 1490 and is often called the Just. After several campaigns he was elected king of Bohemia in 1469 and adopted the title duke of Austria in 1487. He was the son of John Hunyadi, regent of Hungary. The lead breaks off at his father’s death. This essay does not invent the missing year. His Chinese name is the standard reading, because the retrieved pages do not print Hungary or Matthias. The published Friedrich essay is a different king, not this one.1 4
Leaders
The English hub’s named packs do not include Hungary. The Chinese update notes do not head a block with the ordinary name. The pack stays unconfirmed. There is no second Hungarian leader on the pages used here. A missing heading is not a base-game assignment.3 4
Legacy and interpretation
The kingdom’s legacy in the lead is the coronation of about 1000 and the long survival to 1946, broken by the Ottoman partition. Matthias’s legacy is the reign of 1458 to 1490, Bohemia in 1469, and Austria in 1487. Those three titles are not one crown. The 16th-century occupation comes after his death in 1490.1 2
A closer look
The pages retrieved here do not spell a numeric ability for him. This essay does not borrow one. An absent yield is not 6 April 1490.4
In Civilization VI
The pack stays unconfirmed. His Chinese name is a standard reading. Keep about 1000, his birth in 1443, the reign from 1458, Bohemia in 1469, Austria in 1487, and his death on 6 April 1490 apart. Stephen’s coronation at Esztergom opens the kingdom lead. The Árpád dynasty lasts three hundred years after that. Matthias is the son of the regent John Hunyadi. The Just is an epithet, not a second king. The Ottoman partition of the center and south is a 16th-century event, after 1490. The published Friedrich essay remains another monarchy. Croatia shares the royal title from 1458. Bohemia is an election in 1469. Austria is a ducal title in 1487. Three titles across three decades are still one life, and they are not the coronation at Esztergom around 1000. The kingdom’s end in 1946 is far beyond 6 April 1490.1 2 4
